Our Artisans
In the Colombian Pacific region, within the vast Chocó area, lives the Wounaan, an Indigenous community known for creating exquisite baskets, vases, and plates adorned with symbolic patterns rich in meaning. These pieces are crafted from a special palm tree called Werregue, and their vibrant colors are derived from natural plants.
Many of the Wounaan weavers have been displaced by violence, yet they continue to fight to preserve their ancestral traditions. Behind each handcrafted piece lies a story, a legacy passed down through generations. Forced displacement has deeply affected the Wounaan people, but their art endures as a powerful expression of identity, resilience, and cultural memory.
